The Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris

A fantastic read, even though I had seen the film long before I read the book it still managed to wrap me in suspense and cold shivers late at night. There is also a television series called Hannibal now which is actually quite good but for me Lecter will always have the face of Anthony Hopkins.

The film is very good and is a close approximation of the book which I like as usually the film is nothing close to the story thought up by the original writer. Silence of the Lambs is the second in the series but is a great standalone book, it is about psychologist turned cannibal Hannibal Lecter. In this book the FBI want to interview him in the asylum so that they can try to figure out different behavioural patterns within serial killers, however Lecter has other ideas and decides FBI trainee Clarice Starling will be perfect as a sounding board. Lecter is helping her with another serial killer “Buffalo Bill” but is his information correct or is Lecter leading the entire FBI on a wild goose chase as is often Lecter’s want.

A great read from start to finish, I think I also need to re-watch the film just so it is fresh in my mind.
